After a year of stopping, the XI Edition of the Living Nativity is back in the Sassi of Matera.
In the magical and evocative setting of the "Rioni Sassi", the event will present itself in its new and innovative scenographic and theatrical guise. The scenes of the Nativity will in fact be reproduced and animated by cultural associations of Southern Italy and by the participation and performance of theatrical companies from Appulo-Lucan and professional actors, all from Basilicata, who will give life to ancient crafts and a scene of Roman life.

It will be possible to visit the nativity scene in December and January, on the following dates:
- 7-8 December
- 10-11-12 December
- December 18-19
- January 1-2
- 6-7-8-9 January
Matera was the lucky location of great film productions with a religious background: the famous "Gospel according to Matthew" by Pier Paolo Pasolini (1964), the blockbuster "King David" by Bruce Beresford with Richard Gere (1985) "The Passion of the Christ ”By Mel Gibson (2004), Catherine Hardwicke's“ Nativity ”(2006) and Timur Bekmambetov's“ Ben Hur ”. If so many directors have entrusted the role of narrating such important moments of the Holy Scriptures to the scenarios of this territory, there could not have been a better location for the representation of the Living Nativity: the Sassi of Matera.
